West Sussex is a course that opens almost all year round. It hardly ever closes and temporary greens are rarely used. This is mostly due to the sandy subsoil which drains so quickly that heavy downpours of rain, which would close many courses for the day, are more likely to halt play at West Sussex for just an hour or two. Our favourable location close to the South Coast and near the Downs means that frosts and snow are also less likely to affect play in very cold weather.
It is widely acknowledged that West Sussex is a superb winter course with well drained greens that continue to putt out well and with dry fairways that at the end of the round will leave your golf shoes unadorned with the clay, grass or mud so common when playing elsewhere.
